An ileostomy is a procedure, like a colostomy, that is done to create stoma to help the body have an alternative channel to expel waste. This procedure is usually done if the child has an injury or an illness that greatly affects their digestive system. An ileostomy helps the intestine rest and heal.
It can be hard for you and your child to adapt to the change of having to care for the stoma. This is why we will be here to assist you in every step of the way. We will provide you with the information you need to properly care for and clean your child’s stoma or teach them how to do it independently. We also have different types of stoma pouches for you and your child to choose from.
